Hand knit of medium weight, 100% Donegal Tweed Homespun virgin wool from Ireland, this is the real deal, the classic hat loved by all. You want a hat that will keep you warm even if it gets wet from sleet, snow or a little rain. That is why smart knitters know wool is best for warm winter clothing.
This hat is in a 2 x 2 ribbed pattern which makes it extra thick. Just under 4 ounces of wool was used, and it feels like it. There is a resilience and bounce to the fiber when you squeeze it that you get only with pure wool.
On top of all that, the hat is 12“ tall so there is plenty to turn up and cover your ears with a double layer of thickness. This hat will fit most people because ribbing is so stretchy.
The color is a lovely shade of medium brown with a slightly faded look and flecks (called neps) of cream and light rust.
I also have this hat listed in dark brown, oatmeal and denim blue Donegal tweeds.
