This great Mexican sterling silver ring is a great gift.
It has the traditional Aztec geometric serpent design on the 1/2" wide band.
6g in weight, the ring ahs one of the official Mexican sterling silver hallmarks (see photo).
Dating this piece: Based on the way the hallmark is stamped, this ring can be dated to before 1979, when the location of the maker started being included in the hallmark. Because the eagle is not clearly stamped, and the intaglio (sterling number) is not standard, the ring could possibly be prior to 1948, when the eagle stamp was required and the amount of silver became less variable. I have been unable to locate a reliable source with details about the maker's mark.
The ring is in excellent vintage condition.
