This quilt is a fairy and flower lover's dream come true!
It is composed of twenty-four charming flower fairy pictures, originally drawn and painted by Cicely Mary Barker and beautifully printed by the Michael Miller company.
This is an alphabet quilt with such interesting inclusions as Black Thorn, Celandine, Herb Two-Pence, Iris, Poppy, Strawberry, Tulip, Wallflower and Zinnia.
Each picture features a lovely winged fairy or two and it's floral namesake.
My favorite is the Nasturtium Elf.
My photographs just can't capture the beauty of this quilt.
The measurements are approximately 70"x 100".
Since these little pictures are already such lovely works of art, I decided to simply display each one in it's own set of frames,
I used a variety of woodsy browns and forest greens to highlight and complement the garden scenes.
The quilt is lightly machine quilted along the seam lines.
I also added a little decoration around the fairy frames with some simple hand stitching in shades of green cotton embroidery floss.
This adds stability without interfering with the darling framed pictures.
I used Warm and Natural cotton batting for this quilt.
The backing is a patchwork of the brown and green cotton fabrics used on the front of the quilt, echoing the woodland theme.
*Please note that my quilts are not "factory-uniform".
*There are imprecise seams and stitches.
*Each quilt is made entirely by me with my sewing machine, hand stitching and much love!
This quilt may be machine washed with warm water and mild soap, and clothesline or machine dried with medium heat .
This would be a wonderful gift for any child, (or child at heart ), who dreams of fairy friends!
Thanks for visiting.
