A very sweet and tiny antique pin. Bezel set in a lovely open worked gold setting is an unfaceted rose stone that I believe to be a ruby. The gold tested at 12K. Very delicate and probably a lace pin (sometimes called a fichu). It measures 1.25" x 1/2" (at widest point). Has the old C - clasp typical of that period. Beautiful condition for a brooch so old with some wear on it's back consistent with age. Unusual and could be suspended from a velvet ribbon or a gold chain.
