I knit this ribbed hat using my own farm grown alpaca and wool yarn. It is a suitable style for both men and women. It fits beautifully because of all the ribbing knitted into it.
The colors are dark gray, white, red, black, and a light gray which is mohair with a shot of shiney through it. The shiney doesn't show up in the pictures.
This should be a comfortably warm hat for you because it's made of natural alpaca and sheep, which are known for their warmth. Despite this talk about warmth, because this hat is made of natural fibers, it will adjust to your head temperature and shouldn't be a "sweaty" heat like synthetics.
Without stretching, it's 19 inches/ 48 cm around the bottom and a generous, stretchy 9 inches/ 23 cm.tall.
It can be worn as a slouchy, a beanie, or a tam.
To wash, soak for about half an hour in hot water with a dash of soap (Dawn works fine). Squeeze water out gently and soak in warm water to rinse. Lay flat to dry. To prevent shrinkage avoid agitation and extreme water temperature changes.
