I call this Quilted Canvas. It is an original art piece that I have created using traditional quilting methods and free motion style quilting. A mini quilt in 3D on an artist's canvas. Even though it is on an artists' canvas there is no painting involved...merely fabric.
This Wall Hanging/Fiber Art starts with a base of a 10" X 10" 3D stretched white canvas. A mini quilt is created in a flannel cotton print with 2 layers of batting for a dimensional look and feel.
This flannel cotton print is of an Owl with the sweetest little face! He is sitting on a tree limb with green Spring leaves. He is surrounded by a bright blue sky.
Multiple decorative quilting stitches outline the owl completely. Quite time consuming, but such a cute addition. Above his head are decorative quilting stitches also, but in a curved pattern.
This entire flannel owl print wraps around the 4 sides and onto the back of canvas.
There are multiple decorative quilting stitches used throughout the front to help highlight and anchor all 3 layers together for that finishing touch. Look closely at the pics to view this stitching.
A felt has been added to the back to close the opening of the canvas. A saw tooth hanger has been attached at the top for easy hanging (a small nail is all that is needed for hanging).
A mini quilt that is perfect for that limited wall space in a Nursery or child's room decor!
The Quilted Canvas is an extension of my love for quilting. I strive to push this art form of quilting to the fullest. I do hope you will enjoy my creative endeavor and enjoyment of all things quilted.
