This is a vintage compact / cigarette case dating 1940s / 1950s. The frame is made from a gold tone metal and the front is a checkerboard pattern of beautiful mother of pearl. The case has a gold tone snake chain that is perfect to dangle from your wrist as a little evening purse or wristlet.
Inside is a compartment for powder (with powder but no puff); a compartment for a lipstick tube. The spring action fold back metal mirror covers a spot for ciggies or tiny necessities - a little cash and ID perhaps.
This small case has no identifying marks. It measures 5 1/4" x 3" and is just a tad over 3/4" thick. The front MOP is gorgeous and in mint condition; as is the gold tone snake chain. The gold tone exterior metal parts have an extremely generous patina of mostly lighter scratching. The interior also has a patina of light scratches. The clasp works perfectly as does the fold back spring (mirror) over the cigarette case.
