This is a thick, 100% wool, hand knit watch cap, like that worn by sailors long ago, NOT one of those skimpy, petroleum product, machine made things.
Just under 4 ounces of wool went into this hat, and it feels like it. There is a resilience and bounce to the fiber when you squeeze it that you get only with pure wool. And wool is best for keeping your head warm when those winter winds blow.
The hat is 11 1/2” deep so there is plenty to double up over your ears. Ribbing also makes it warmer than flat knitting because it is thicker and has air pockets to hold in the heat. And because the hat is knit with ribbing, it is very stretchy and will fit any older child, teen or adult.
The color is like milk chocolate unless you are in direct sunlight. Then it changes to bronze! I’ve tried to show this in the photos.
There are also lots of other hats and warm accessories in my gallery.
