This handmade stocking features a beautiful vintage quilt in the beloved Grandmother's Flower Garden pattern. Details are:
~ The stocking is a traditional size, measuring 21 inches vertically when hanging as shown. It is finished with same fabrics on both sides, so it can be hung with toe pointing left or right or displayed where both sides will be seen (coat rack, chair back, floor lamp, etc.).
~ The quilt was made in the 1930s and has many different tiny flower and solid fabrics. It was made entirely by hand. The pathway around the flowers is cream or ivory (off-white). This stocking has a bunny novelty fabric on the front (blue flower) and a novelty fabric with little children on the back (green flower).
~ The double fold-over cuff is new vintage-style woven cotton ticking fabric in a dark red and cream stripe.
~ The full lining is new cotton quilting fabric with a barn red background and tiny snowflakes and stars. The hanging loop is red satin ribbon.
~ The stocking has multiple layers of two different tailor's interlinings in the body, lining, and cuff to give the stocking structure and an elegant designer finish. The stocking body is 10 layers thick (both sides, including lining). A stocking with no interlinings would be just 4 layers thick.
~ All seams are double stitched or serged, so the stocking is durable and can be filled with lots of goodies at Christmastime.
Thank you for visiting! The vintage quilts that I use in my stockings are 75 to 100 years old. They have been loved and used by their previous owners. I choose the best sections of the quilts for stockings, but the quilt fabrics inevitably have some signs of age, such as slightly faded fabrics, very small areas of wear (nothing major), and occasionally small spots or marks. The fabrics are not new, and so the stockings have vintage charm and appeal. They are probably not suitable for buyers looking for stockings that look "brand new."
