This sweet stocking made from 1950s vintage barkcloth with a design taken from Grandma Moses' painting "Early Springtime in the Snow" a wonderfully seasonal design that she painted in 1945.
~ The stocking is a traditional size, measuring 21 inches vertically from the top of the cuff to the bottom of the toe (not including the satin ribbon hanging loop), when it is hung as shown in the photos.
~ The stocking is finished on both sides, so it can be hung with the toe pointing in either direction or in a place where it will be seen from both sides. My stockings look pretty hung from the mantle at Christmas time, but are also lovely when hung on coat trees, wooden peg boards, door and cabinet knobs, chair backs, on floor lamps, or put in the center of a rustic wreath. A stocking filled with assorted special toiletries and small personal care items also makes wonderful welcoming gift for visitors in a guest room.
~ The foldover cuff is hand-dyed bright Christmas red Bates vintage chenille bedspread fabric.
~ The full lining is quilting cotton in a tiny trees design. The hanging loop is red satin ribbon.
~ I used multiple layers of two different tailor's interlinings on the body, lining and cuff to give the stocking a finished appearance and add structure and durability. The stocking body is 12 layers of fabric thick, counting both sides and the lining.
~ All seams are triple stitched or serged, so the stocking can safely be filled with lots of goodies at Christmastime.
I ship via USPS Priority Mail. Shipping overpayments are refunded as soon as the item is packed and shipped.
