A great New Old Stock vintage Italian tea towel by designer Milvia for Zucchi of Milan. Made in Italy, this is the THURSDAY ("Giovedi") General Cleaning Day towel from her Day's of the Week Cleaning Series. Wonderfully whimiscal, the Milvia towels are highly sought out by collectors. Unused with it's original crisp finish and the the SAKS OF FIFTH AVENUE tag. Vintage MINT!
Colorfully printed with a pastel blue caption reading "Pulizia Generale" (General Cleaning), in the famous Milvia cursive, it has her famous willowy thin lady happily engaged in a bit of Thursday tidying up. She is dressed in a bright orange head bandana and a light blue apron over her co-coordinating striped house dress and little black slippers while joyfully busy. Her colored feather duster is at the ready in one hand, while with the other she is busily sweeping the floor crumbs with an orange handled broom.
Hugely popular, these mid century towels were sold in high end department stores in the 1960's and early 1970's. Signed in one corner, this is suitable for gift giving, framing and home decor.
I have not laundered this towel to preserve it's original fabric finish and fold lines.
