ITEM # 081617 (Box-3)
This is a Victorian turn of the century watercolor/ pastel mixed media painting of a Gibson Girl or Harrison Fisher style, as it is unsigned. Her eyes have gouache highlights. Possibly a rendition that maybe would have been used as preliminary to a flue cover or advertising piece. It has the old wire to hang and the glass appears to be original with the wavy lines and air bubbles.
Painting measures 10" in diameter. With frame, measurement is 10 1/2" diameter.
Condition: Watercolor: Very good antique condition. We see no issues or damage to the painting, edges show wear outside of frame, typical with age. Slight browning on edges, underneath frame. The back of the painting has yellowed over time due to the backing being wood. It should be lined with acid free paper to retain its color you see on the front, but I have chosen to leave it in its antique condition and allow the customer to make that decision so they can see its original state.
Condition: Wood Frame: Very good antique condition, with typical wear due to age and handling. Frame does show scuffs and abrasions and slight loss of gold paint as from rubbing.
