I created this charm with buff colored clay that has small dark specs which gives the pendant a bit of a rustic feel. I used a stamp, shaped the clay and then glazed the piece after the second firing. The bird is orange and I used aquamarine to coat the charm. This process takes some time to complete with waiting for the clay to dry and then having to fire the piece in the kiln a couple of times. Sankofa is an African word from the Akan tribe in Ghana. The literal translation of the word and the symbol is “it is not taboo to fetch what is at risk of being left behind.” Breakdown of the word Sankofa : SAN (return), KO (go), FA (look, seek and take)
Description
This light weight disc bead could be used in jewelry, sewing, and many other crafts. I show this piece with a 1.5mm leather cord(not included). A 2mm cord is too thick for this piece. Also an 8mm jump ring works well with this charm.
If you would like this charm in a different color, please let me know. It takes me at least 4 days to make these beads.
