1920s Art deco porcelain figurine from Goebel Oeslau Wilhelmsfeld, Germany.
Impressed wide double crown mark on base and model number GF 4 12.
In 1920 Goebel changed from the narrow crown to the wider, compressed one, however, there was a cross over of about 4 years (1918-1922) where staff used both due to unclear managers instructions and possibly habit.
This is an older model from the 1910s of Goebel childrens series, but it's not painted in polychrome, instead it was left blanc. Old style model number font , yet marked with two clear wider crowns, which points to an early 1920s manufacture between 1922 to 1925 latest.
Depicting a boy and girl, siblings perhaps (?), one holding a ball while tenderly looking over the girls shoulder who is reading a book.
In good condition with some minor unnoticeable flea bites along the vase rim, on small chip on the back of the base rim, but can not be seen when displayed.
Firing impurities that bubbled to the surface during final burning can be seen on both caps of the children and inside the Vase.
Adorable piece which looks lovely with some wild flowers placed in the vase.
Measures 14 cm long, 10 cm high and approx. 5.5 cm depth. The top opening Vase diameter is 6.2 cm x 5.5 cm.
