Cranberry Fields Forever! I couldn't help but hum an old Beatles song while making this. This beautiful oval rugs is 36" x 24". It is made from 4 recycled sheets, and thick and sturdy. It weighs almost 4 pounds. It contains shades of Cranberry, Beige, Sage and a patterned cranberry colored print.
It is a very old method particularly popular during the depression called Amish Knot, or Toothbrush Rug. It is neither crocheted or braided, but rather is constructed by knotting fabric into the previous rows. The tool is actually made from the handle of a toothbrush. Since it is individually knotted, each knot can be pulled tight so the rug retains it's thickness and stiffness years after it is made. There are no strings to break like a braided rug. It will not unravel like a crocheted rug can. They will last for years after repeated washing.
To clean, simply put it in the washing machine. If it is extra dirty, add some type of oxi cleaner. Then put it into the dryer until it is damp, and lay flat to air dry.
I call them a generational rug because your grandchildren will still be using the rugs. Totally recycled. Totally made with love.
