An Art Deco, circa 1920's-30's, micro beaded drawstring handbag.
The entire bag has an array of cut and faceted beads, from peacock carnival blue, ruby red, black, crystal, clear with a hot pink center, as well as an emerald green.
Top is has 12 early plastic, maybe lucite or celluloid ? rings for the rope to be drawn in order to close the bag securely. Top has a fringe boarder consisting of black and peacock iridescent glass beads with three emerald green beads at center bottom to give it a great tip.
The strap is heavily beaded with a rotating pattern of black, clear and green, giving it a very Art Deco geometric appearance.
The bottom has a micro beaded knot with matching fringe on the end, same as the top portion of the bag, creating the tassel.
Bag measures 5" at it's widest, measuring it laying flat. It is 12" from top of bag to the end of the tassel. Measuring it from the top of the strap, the bag drops 24" long.
Condition: Very good antique condition with typical wear due to age and handling. Although I did not see any missing beads, upon very close inspection I found a couple that corrosion. Not eye noticeable, as I had to look hard to find any. The silk lining has been mostly removed as shown in last photo. I found no tears or holes to the actual bag.
I have taken several photos in different locations to show how the lighting changes the colors of the beads.
PLEASE let me know if you need any additional photos or information before purchasing, as I sell antique / vintage items.
