Antique English comical postcard of a 'Volunteering' Soldier in His First Uniform - Artist drawn by A.E.H - c 1908. An amusing piece of British social history.
Type: Print, divided back, coloured cartoon.
Postally: used with King Edward Vll green half penny stamp Forest Gate dated 10th September, 1908. Hand written message in ink on the back.
CONDITION: Clear colours, but age related wear.
Slight blunting around the edges - mainly top section.
A corner missing to right lower edge, plus a tear about a quarter of the way up the right-hand side.
The left-hand lower corner is creased, with a small tear about a quarter of the way up.
Light soiling to front and reverse.
These cards were produced on very cheap type paper and, therefore, it has survived reasonably well in the circumstances. Please study photographs.
MEASUREMENTS: Approx. 5 1/2" x 3 3/8" (14 cms x 8.5 cms)
The postcard will arrive in a polyprotect sleeve and and hard-backed envelope.
(I have tried to capture the colour as best I can, but please allow for slight variation. It is particularly difficult to capture the yellowing and discolouration on some cards).
