A rare antiquarian book/booklet from the 1893 World's Columbian Exposition in Chicago, printed in Germany. There are accordion folding pictorial lithographs showing several buildings from the Expo. Amazing this will be 125 years old soon!
The World's Columbian Exposition was a world's fair held in Chicago in 1893 to celebrate the 400th anniversary of Christopher Columbus's arrival in the New World in 1492.
Book measures 7 1/8" by 4".
Very good antique condition with typical wear due to age and handling. The cover is still a nice rich red, not faded. The original spine appears to be damage free and never repaired. Slight dent at the top of the spine and the corners show some rounding. Light scuffing as to be expected. Some yellowing due to age.
Very good antique condition with typical wear due to age and handling. All pages are still attached, as these were produced so that the customer could remove each one individually if wanted. The front page is a two page lithograph of a "Birds Eye View of the World's Columbian Exposition". This page has 4 tiny spots on the edge of the lithograph were the paper is missing, upon further inspection, the spots align exactly across from each other, appearing that it was caused from two drops of glue. Whether it was from the original production or later, I honestly do not know. No other issues with paper loss to any of the other lithographs. Some yellowing due to age.

Upon researching this item, I ran across only one for sale with this exact cover, but was in very poor condition. Their asking price was $225. The 1893 World's Columbian Exposition souvenir booklets are hard to find but not exactly rare. The rarity of this booklet comes from the semi nude lady and cherub printed on the cover, as well as the overall very good condition of the booklet itself.
