Storyteller, American Indian pottery figure with five children, signed MM.
The Pueblo Indians are known for their oral traditions, and for making figurative pottery.
This is a wonderfully colorful and whimsical, Folk Art figure that is handmade from terracotta clay.
I smile every time I look at this endearing piece showing a woman reading from a book to five children.
The children are placed, uniquely....one on each shoulder, one in her lap, and two holding up the book....so cute!
Her face is eye catching with her eyes looking down at the book, the mouth open as if reading.
The bottom is hand signed with the initials MM.
It measures about 5 1/4" high and is in good condition with no chips or cracks.
The paint is nice and bright. It is worthy of gift giving.
The figure has weight to it, and is not flimsy.
This piece would be a nice addition to a collection or good for anyone to have and display.
Background items are decoration only and not included.
Colors may vary on individual computer screens and photos may be larger than the original item in order to show detail.
Thanks for looking!
