In its natural form, Magnesite is white, yellowish or taupe in color. It was first discovered in Africa where it was considered a fertility stone. In Egypt, it was seen as a good luck charm. Being essentially a white stone, it is associated with spirituality and a freeing sense of peace. It opens the wearer to feelings of love, including self-love and helps to facilitate interpersonal relationships.
The color blue is associated with the throat chakra. Dying any gemstone in no way alters the crystaline properties of the stone.
Magnesite is said to bring a sense of tranquility when used in meditation. This is one stone that works well on what are called “secondary chakra centers”, in this case the hands and feet.
Native Americans, including the Pomo Tribes of California, carved white magnesite gemstones into beads for jewelry and currency.
