Set of 6 silver plated vintage fruit spoons in a fiddle thread shell pattern, presented in a sturdy picture box, with a scene of a country cottage in a sunny rural setting. There is also a large fruit serving spoon, unfortunately not in a matching pattern but nevertheless in a simple and attractive Art Deco style.
The fruit spoons are in a pattern that combines the best of Victorian style (although the spoons themselves probably date from around the 1930s). The beautiful fiddle shape terminates in a lovely embossed scallop shell at the tip, and this is repeated to the back of the handle and again on back of the spoon bowl. But the real piece de resistance is the box itself - such a lovely surprise with a boxed cutlery set to have a picture to the lid - I have never seen this before!
The cutlery is very nice quality with a good weight. The fruit spoons are marked with, "EPNS A1" and the serving spoon is marked with, "R P & S, EP, A1" (unidentified maker).
Condition is good. Fine surface scratches commensurate with light to moderate previous use but no plate loss or wear. The box is scuffed to the picture at the top (unfortunately) but still retains its character and is clean to the inside..
Spoon length is 15 cm (6 inches)
Server length is 22 cm (8.75 inches).
The cutlery will be sent by signed and tracked delivery.
