This is an amazing designer signed Southwest couture necklace and matching earrings set from the Chaco Canyon Trading Company. Necklace and earrings are marked STERLING with the company logo. Earrings have LS for Loretta Smith.
Chaco Canyon company was established in 1976, and Loretta Smith has been with the company for many years. Loretta's father the famous Navajo silversmith Wilbert Smith.
Necklace consists of 4 open back oval faceted blue topaz gemstones measuring 8 mm by 6mm which have been hand prong set, a large sterling orchid floral and leaf three dimensional filigree motif. The center piece measures 4 1/4" across and hangs approx 2". Necklace measures 17" and has a J hook clasp. Necklace weighs 40 grams.
Earrings are pierced. Each consist of an open back oval faceted blue topaz gemstone measuring 8mm by 6mm and have been hand prong set. Earrings are dangle with same sterling orchid floral leaf motif. Earrings measure 2 1/3" on the drop and 1 1/8" at widest point. Earrings weigh 9 grams each.
Total weight of set is 49 grams. Total carat weight of blue topaz is 9.6 carats.
Condition: Very good vintage condition with typical wear due to age and handling.
