Description

I found these sweet Blue Ridge pieces while out and about.  I believe the large platter is a cake plate, and probably formed a set with four matching dessert plates.  Unfortunately, only three of those smaller plates remain.  But do not despair!  This would be a lovely set for a couple.  One for you, one for me, and one as a spare, or for the furkid.   The pattern is apparently called "Rock Rose", and came in both yellow and pink.  I believe the shape is called "Colonial".  Large platter measures about 11.5" across, and the smaller ones are about 6.25".  All feature a Blue Ridge/Southern Potteries inkstamp on the back, proudly declaring that these were made right here in the USA.  During the course of my research, I noted... well.  I think some of their decorators were a bit more skilled than others.  The marvelous, subtle gradation of color in the center flower of the large tray leads me to believe this one was done by one of their best.

CONDITION:  Well.  If you're a collector, you are probably very familiar with the tendency of these wares to craze.  I collect dinnerware from a lot of different makers, and to me, these are on the lightweight side, and the material seems a bit more porous than some.  These plates all have crazing, and when they're wet (i.e., being washed), that crazing shows up dark.  When they're dry, it's much less noticeable.  I did wipe these plates down, and they might still be just a bit damp under that glaze.  Other than this crazing, I see no cracks, chips or hairlines, and very, very little scuffing or scratching.  I do note, just to nitpick, that there seem to be quite a few factory glaze pops along the painted areas. These were hand-painted/decorated, and the paint or glaze bubbled up here and there.

SHIPPING - Please note my quote is the 4# rate from East Coast to West Coast, worst case.  They might need to ship Standard in an "oversized" (over 36" LxHxW) box for safety.  If you live closer, or I overestimated packed weight, you could receive a shipping refund via PayPal.  Feel free to convo me with your zip... I'd be more than happy to tweak shipping to your location and mark this item reserved for you!   Take a look at my shipping policies for additional details...

**PLEASE contact me if you'd like additional pics, only allowed six here. I totally understand that when you can't pick something up to examine it closely, you want to see as much as you can, as clearly as possible.
