Six unused art deco towels from the 1920s, monogrammed 'DR'.
Square weave with beautiful lilac stripes running lengthwise, pure or half linen material.
These unused sets which were often part of Bridal gifts at the time are increasingly hard to find. This is a particularly rare set with the lilac running through it.
The slight discolouration on some edging comes from 90+ years of cuppoard storage and usually comes out with the first wash.
These old towels wash extremely well, not like todays towels which are made of 100% cotton and break apart.
Linen is much more durable and doesn't leave fluff on glass items. People also used these large towels for drying themselves after a bath. They soak up water fast and air dry just as quick.
Gorgeous set of 6, each measuring 103cm long and 47cm wide.
