This round pressed glass vintage serving plate has beautiful geometric designs that resemble snowflakes, starbursts, and flowers.
The platter has a raised scalloped saw tooth edge of approximately 1/2" (1.3 cm).
It is made of very heavy glass, weighing in at just over 2 lbs. It measures approximately 9 1/4" (23.5 cm) in diameter with a serving area of about 8 3/4" (22.2 cm).
There are some chips in this piece that are difficult to see due to the designs of/on the platter. There is a relatively large chip on the scalloped edge that I found. It is on the inside of the edge of the tips of the scallop, so it does not "really" affect the look of the piece. It encompasses all 3 tips of one of the scallops. The other chips on the edge were found by "feeling" the rim. I personally would not consider the edges of any of these chips to be sharp, however they are most certainly rough.
This serving platter has been in my family ever since I can remember. I honestly don't know who the "original" owner was -- my grandmother or mother. It was the serving dish that was always used to bring the goodies to the celebration at everyone's home (hence the reason for all the chips! It was well used & bumped in transit). That said, it spent many a month at one house until it was needed to bring something "home".
It is great for serving some yummy desserts or hors d'oeuvres. This serving piece would also make an elegant dresser dish, under plate for a potted plant or candle centerpiece.
Thanks for visiting! Have a fabulous day!
